The medical professionals at Wellspire Medical Group understand that heart disease or failure of the heart is concerning for most people. While it may seem easy to just avoid going to the doctor at all, this can lead to more complications than just having regular check-ups done to monitor the health of your heart. If you have previously had a heart condition diagnosed or have suffered a heart attack, a question you will have is how often you should see a cardiologist.
Factors That Determine Your Appointment Schedule
Some patients will only need to see their cardiologist quarterly, while others are on a weekly schedule to closely monitor the activity of their heart. Listed below are some of the factors that may play a role in determining how often your cardiologist will recommend seeing you:
Degree of heart failure: If your heart failure falls into the range of mild to moderate, you may be asked to come in quarterly or once every 6 months. This will be determined by your cardiologist in order to get you the best treatment for your specific needs.
Symptoms: You will be instructed by your cardiologist to call the office if you experience any of the following symptoms: shortness of breath, periodic dizziness or swollen limbs. You may then be instructed to seek immediate medical assistance based on your condition.
Current state of health: If you suffer from other health conditions, such as diabetes, your visits may be scheduled weekly or bi-monthly until your conditions have been stabilized. Additionally, if you become ill, you will be asked to visit the office to be evaluated.
Going for a heart check up is the only way to know if you are at risk of suffering a heart disease. It is important to stay on top of monitoring the health of your heart as 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease.
