Dr. Mario Villafani is a board-certified general surgeon seeing patients in Wellspire’s Kingwood location. Each patient is equally important to him, and he treats every patient with the same compassion and quality of care as he would want from his doctor. Dr. Villafani prioritizes thorough communication with his patients. He takes time to explain the risks and benefits of surgery in detail so they can make fully informed decisions regarding their treatment. His goal is to make patients feel as comfortable as possible with their choice of surgery and with him as their surgeon. Dr. Villafani grew up in Houston. He credits his years at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory with providing him an intellectual and spiritual foundation that continues to serve him well in life. After earning a degree in Biology and Chemistry from Houston Baptist University, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston included advanced training in gastrointestinal surgery and laparoscopic surgery. He is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a demonstration of his dedication to excellence, adherence to high standards, and commitment to advancing surgical care.

Dr. Villafani and his wife live in Humble and have two adult children. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, soccer, ice hockey, and auto racing.
