Dr. Atul Matta is a board-certified pulmonologist at Wellspire Medical’s Humble and Atascocita locations, specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine. With a commitment to high-quality care, he focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of respiratory conditions and critical illnesses.

Dr. Matta earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences in India. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He further honed his expertise by completing a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.

His clinical interests include treating complex pulmonary diseases such as asthma and COPD, managing critical care cases, and addressing sleep disorders. Passionate about improving outcomes for patients with chronic lung conditions, Dr. Matta places strong emphasis on patient education as a cornerstone of his care philosophy. His focus on patient-centered care and his diverse expertise makes him an invaluable asset to the Wellspire Medical team.

Dr. Matta was born and raised in India. He moved to the United States in 2015 and completed his training in northeast before moving to Houston with his wife. He enjoys photography, playing pickleball, and traveling the world when he’s not practicing medicine.
