WELLSPIRE WOUND CARE
Wound care in podiatry involves the treatment and management of foot ulcers, cuts, and other wounds that are slow to heal or at risk of infection. These cases occur most often in patients with vascular disease, poor circulation, or diabetes. Conservative treatment options include cleaning the wound, applying medication or dressings, and offloading pressure from the affected area. In more severe cases, skin substitutes and grafts can be performed on an outpatient basis. If a bone infection is present, surgical removal of the bone followed by packing the wound with antibiotic beads may be necessary. Recovery varies depending on the cause and severity of the wound but may involve regular monitoring and care to promote healing.
